A subdomain is a website address, that is under a main, or a root domain. An example is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain address, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. apart from using the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be entirely independent and even hosted by a different provider. Employing a subdomain can be extremely practical if you'd like to have different web sites which are associated in some way. For example, you can have an online store under the main domain along with a forum under a subdomain so as to offer means for your clients to ask questions and / or share views concerning your products. The main advantage of employing a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the sites will be separated, so that you can update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.

Subdomains in Website Hosting

Every single website hosting plan which we provide will enable you to create many subdomains with no more than a couple of clicks inside your web hosting CP. They'll all be listed in the section in which you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, to help you easily monitor all of them. Additionally, you can access lots of functions for any one of the subdomains via right-click context menus - as an example, you can view or change their DNS records, access the website files, and more. While setting up a new subdomain, you're also going to have a number of options that you can select from - specify the default access folder, set customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or choose if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The amount of subdomains you are going to have is completely up to you because we haven't limited this feature for any of our plans.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated service do not have a set limit for the amount of subdomains you can create. Adding a new subdomain in the account takes just a few clicks in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and during the process you can select the folder the subdomain will access if it is going to be different from the default one, create custom error pages, enable FrontPage Extensions if you need them or set a dedicated IP address as opposed to the shared server one if you have added such an upgrade to your semi-dedicated account. Once the subdomain is set up, you can access logs and visitor statistics or easily jump to the website files for it in the File Manager area by using fast access buttons. All subdomains that you have within the account will be conveniently listed under their root domain, so you will be able to find and control every single one of them with ease.
